Don Sybil
Don Sybil is a Haitian-born abstract-surrielist painter who engages with popular American culture and abstraction. He has built his career through hard work, creativity, and dedication to his craft.
As an artist, he creates original works inspired by culture, spirituality, music, and human connection. His goal is to create meaningful pieces that tell stories and inspire others. His Haitian background has given him a strong sense of resilience, community, and pride, which continues to influence both his work and his life.
Alongside his work as an artist, Don is also a barber. he takes pride in helping people look and feel their best through attention to detail and quality service. For him, both painting and barbering are creative practices that allow him to connect with people in different ways.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My Artistic practice is rooted in self-expression, and storytelling. As a Haitian artist based in Queens, New York, I draw inspiration from my cultural background, spirituality, music, nature, and the human experience. Through painting, I explore emotions, relationships, identity, and the unseen connections that bring people together.
My creative process is guided by a flow state where I trust my instincts and allow each piece to develop organically. I often use bold colors, movement, and layered compositions to create works that feel alive and emotionally engaging. Whether I am creating abstract works, portraits, or mixed-concept pieces, I aim to capture energy, feeling, and authenticity rather than simply recreating what is seen.
